Making kids seem tough, whilst also appearing cowed, is tough.

Making kids who are made of polygons and paint strokes do the same thing is nigh impossible.

Nevertheless, I’m really proud of panels one, five, and seven. This is very clearly the Anika we’ve seen before, except younger. She might not have the life experience, but her character is fully baked.

I did that deliberately. Both of my kids are very different people. More to the point, their distinct personalities were clear the moment — the moment — they were born. I wanted to reflect that personal experience here, if only in a small way.

Aside from that, I’m happy with the lighting here.
